Week 12

This week I got to experiment with teachable machine and test to see if it would correctly identify bacteria pictures. It did. I also got to grow CX (corynebacterium xerosis). I found out that it is frequently a harmless commensal organism living on the skin and mucus membranes, C. xerosis is also a clinically-relevant opportunistic pathogen that has been attributed to a number of different infections in animals and humans. I cultured the bacteria in a petri dish, incubated it for 24 hours, took pictures, and added it to teachable machine. The pictures were used to correctly idendify the bacteria and then addeed to the project in teachable machine. Overall, it was a sucessful week in the Stem Train internship.
